Private Sea Kayak and Hike Malaga Island History Tour. Paddle a sea kayak with Master Maine Guide Alice to Malaga Island for the interpretive tour. Learn about the history of 41 acre Malaga Island -  Master Maine Guide Alice will acquaint you with the native americans that used the island and coastal Maine until they were displaced by settlers. Learn who started the colony and when. Learn about what was happening in the world and in Maine during the late 1800's and how that impacted the Malaga Island colony. Why did the residents of the island have difficulty with their neighbors? Learn about the forced eviction and what happened right afterwards and about the island's modern history.

The five hour sea kayak and hike tour is appropriate for beginner paddling skills and includes light hiking. If you cannot walk unaided over root and rock single paths, you should not join this tour.

Participants will receive directions to the tiny public boat launch and may need to park remotely. Please bring water/snacks/lunch in a tiny backpack. Paddlers will use single or tandem kayaks at the Master Maine Guide's choice based on conditions and paddling skills. Please wear closed toed shoes that attach to your feet and can get wet, quick dry clothing, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and bring a fleece or windbreaker.
